First time I have been here in years, and am really happy we stopped in. The chips and salsa came out before we had ordered. The chips were light and crispy. The salsa was obviously fresh made, not spicy. No cilantro. But added a little salt and some of the hot salsa that was on the table, and it was very good. Again, freshly made. Liked it a lot. I got two seafood enchiladas, the wife got a number 3 dinner platter. Your basic rice (light and dry and fluffy) and refried beans and a little on plate salad of lettuce and tomato. Came with a crunchy beef taco, beef burrito, and beef enchilada. And as the daily special was under $8.00. I ate the taco, wife ate the rest. My two seafood enchiladas, were your basic soft corn tortillas, wrapped around surimi, and topped with melted cheese and the red enchilada sauce. Also came with the mini salad of lettuce and chopped tomato. Both of us got a little side of fresh made guacamole at a buck each. When the food came out, they did the standard thing of serving it on really hot plates. Why is it that only Mexican restaurants heat up the plates? I like heated plates when I get a dinner. Now, overall, I understand why people say "waaaa, it doesn't taste authentic...". Hey you know what? I have lived in So-Cal, been to Mexico a few times, and it doesn't taste like what you would get there. What it is, is a low priced restaurant that serves really fresh food that looks and tastes really good. I have been to Hong Kong as well, yet I don't meet many folks who say of a Chinese restaurant "waaaa it doesn't taste authentic". Because, most folks haven't been to China. And most folks who eat at a really good Chinese restaurant, do not know that there is usually a second Chinese-only menu. They are just happy, because it is full of vegetables, is cooked in a wok served with rice, and to them at least, tastes good. That is why the four star rating. My server was funny, polite, a nice mix of great personality. The food was well prepared, tasted good, and served hot. In all, I liked it. The dining room was cool looking. The food came out hot. And it tasted really good. It may not taste "authentic", but it did taste good, and I will be back. And the two of us got out of there with a 20% tip for just under $20. No drinks, just water, no appetizers, just the chips and salsa. I would recommend El Carlos in Lake Milton Ohio to anyone who wanted a nice hot well prepared meal. Tasted great. And we left full and happy. All in all, a great little place, surprisingly busy, serving good food.
I loved coming here with my family and will miss it dearly. Wish we had a good mexican place close here. Will definitely miss the cheddar con queso and the chips.
